John Morford
Birth: Jul. 2, 1833 Death: Jan. 8, 1905 from rr:John Morford, who had been a resident of Red Bank for the past ten years, died at his home on Branch avenue on Sunday night at nine o'clock. He was taken sick about a week previously with pneumonia, which disease caused his death. The funeral was held this afternoon at the Baptist church and the service was conducted by Rev. W. B. Matteson. The body was buried in Fair View cemetery. Mr. Morford was born at New Monmouth 71 years ago. His father was Charles Morford and John was the oldest son. He took up farming as a business and he conducted a farm at New Monmouth for many years. Later he was engaged as a salesman on the William V. Wilson and the boats of the Merchants' steamboat company's line. He moved from New Monmouth to Red Bank in 1894 and had resided here with his family ever since. He leaves a widow and tow sons. The sons are Edward Morford of Red Bank and William B. Morford of Philadelphia. A daughter, Rita, who was a teacher in the Red Bank schools, died a number of years ago. Mrs. Morford was before her marriage Miss Maria Brown and she lived at Atlantic Highlands. Mr. Morford leaves also four sisters and a brother--Mrs. Caroline M. Wurdemann of Washington, D. C., Mrs. David S. Wyckoff of Freehold, and Mrs. L. M. Hendrickson, Miss Margaret H. Morford and Charles H. Morford of Middletown.Red Bank Register, Wed., Jan. 11, 1905
