Hankinson and Rebecca R. (Kirby) Hankinson in New Egypt, New Jersey. Hankinson ancestors immigrated to America in 1683, when widow Jane (Rotherick) Hankinson arrived from England with her three sons. The sons worked to pay off their passage, but eventually became landowners in Monmouth, New Jersey. Grandson Kenneth Hankinson was an enterprising businessman, engaged in farming, distilling, lumbering, and blacksmithing. He served in the American Revolution as a Captain and returned to increase his children to thirteen. As specified by his will, much of his extensive landholdings were sold, and three generations later a great grandson, George C. Hankinson, was a farmer who struggled to support seven children.George and Rebecca Hankinson's children included six girls and two boys. Lavinia's twin, Leah Ann, was the only one lost in infancy. The other seven thrived and eventually married. At the age of 24 Lavinia married Charles Eugene Mount, a farmer in nearby Clarksburg, New Jersey. Together they raised six children, three boys and three girls. An additional daughter died in infancy. The Mount family left the farm in 1893, moving to Florence, New Jersey, where Charles Mount sought employment. After several years (and two more daughters), he took his family across the Delaware River to Bristol, Pennsylvania. Six years later Lavinia Mount was a widow with six children, ranging in age from six years to twenty. She died in 1918 at the age of 58, reportedly a victim of the Spanish influenza.Obituary in Bristol Courier, 15 Feb. 1918
