The Carson FamilyTyped copy found in Ohio Historical Society LibraryListed as from the Pioneer Annals of Green TownshipEnoch Carson who was born in Belfast, Ireland of Scothc ancestry probably arrived in America at Burlington, NJ after traveling from Ireland and up the Delaware River to the Burlington, N.J. destination. This is the same route followed by Doctor Parke whose daughter married into the Stout family. The Stouts of Middletown, N.J. and related families had pushed south toward Trenton. Many of the pioneer families were counted in the inhabitants around Cranbury N.J.Enoch Carson, 1764-1817, a blacksmith was married to Achsah Disbrow about 1787. This is a starting point from where we have a sound basis.Achsah Disbrow was a descendant of early settlers. The family evidently had migrated to New Jersey and moved southward until Achsah's parents resided near Cranbury, N.J. The earliest New Jersey settlements at Middletown had spread out so many families in the first settlement were scattered throughout the northern section of New Jersey. Some of these same families descendents, such as Brays, Applegates, Jewel and Craigs are later recorded as living in Cheviot, Ohio, also.
Enoch Carson lived near Hightstown, N.J. in 1804. He crossed the Allegheny Mountains by wagon to Pittsburgh; here he procured a flat boat and sent his family, wagons and household goods down the river, while he himself made the journey riding overland and leading his horses. He reached Cincinnati before the family did, and met them at the landing of that town Dec. 24, 1804. In the spring of the following year he located in Green township on the farm where the annual Harvest Home Festivals were later celebrated. Here Enoch W. Carson was born June 29, 1805, the youngest of his father's family, and the first male white child born in the township, wherein he resided until a few years before his death, which occured Oct. 27, 1882 at Sharon, Hamilton County.Enoch Carson born ___ dies at Cehviot, Ohio, 1818Achsah Disbrow born ___ Cranberry, N.J. died Cheviot, OhioThey left Hightstown, Mercer Co, New Jersey in 1804 settled at Cehviot, Ohio in 1805, One of the Pioneers of Green township, Hamilton Count(y), Ohio.In 1918, one Wm. Brokaw Bamford, 614 Tenth Ave., Belmar, N.J. was tring to trace the Disborw family. He said the records of Achsah Disbrow were very meager; that she probably was the sister of Daniel and Samuel Disbrow, who were privates in the REvolutionary War, and that they were children of Daniel, the eldest son of Henry of Cranbury. It is possible that Daniel, Sr., was a sergeant in the Middlesex Militia. In the Newark Evening News of Oct. 21-28 and Nov.11 (1916) an abbreviated account of the Disbrow family was published.Achsah Disbrow often told her children that she was frying griddle cakes when Washington crossed the Delaware, and the noise of the bullets frightened her so that she dropped the griddle. (Georgette, youngest daughter of Joel Bishop and Mary Carson, said her mother often told her this). In Pioneers of Green Township" it speaks of Mrs. Carson (Achsah Disbrow) telling her children how the bullets at the battle sounded like walnuts (falling?? unable to read more).Carson, Enoch (blacksmith) born 1764 - approximately.
