HHFO: D11100203 1963: 201 DW record number: 22021 Eliza Abigail's father William Dorris HENDRICKS was sent by Brigham Young with a number of other families to settle in Richmond, Utah, and here she spent her entire life. She was married in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Samuel Allen HENDRICKS, 13 November 1871, when she was 15 years old. She became the mother of ten children, four daughters and six sons (including one pair of twins). Her husband, who was a railroad contractor, spent most of his time with his business in other parts of the country, especially in old Mexico, where he died and was buried. Eliza Abigail was a kind, gentle woman; a wonderful homemaker, and a faithful Latter-Day Saint. At the time of her death, at the age of 37, she was serving as president of the Richmond Ward Young Ladies Mutual Improvement Association, where she was held in high esteem for her efficient leadership in that organization. Because of her husband's absence from home, she had almost the entire responsibility of rearing her large family, and in those early days there was much sickness and death. Two of her children had spinal meningitis. Three of her children died in infancy, another one died at the age of three years from a fall from the barn about a year after his mother's death. She died in Richmond, Utah, 12 October, 1893 from typhoid fever. --HENRY HENDRICKS GENEALOGY, pp. 82-83.
