According to one branch of Edwards family descendants, West Edwards brought two of his young sons, Drew and Thomas F., from Edgecomb Co., NC to Sumner Co., TN to clear a section of land. He had obtained 640 acres on Drake Creek by grant. By fall they had cleared the land and built a house. West returned to North Carolina with the intention of moving the rest of the family to Tennessee in the spring. The two sons who stayed behind had become friends of the Hendricks, Hinton, and Dorris families who lived in the vicinity. Source: Paul T. Garrett West Edwards died early in the year 1815 in North Carolina, and so did not return to Tennessee, nor did his wife and other children. However, Thomas Fitzhugh and Drew Edwards stayed in Tennessee and inherited the land they had cleared with their father.

Since the land that Thomas and Drew Edwards inherited from their father West Edwards was in Sumner Co., TN, it is very probable that Thomas and Charlotte's children were born in Sumner Co., TN., rather than Simpson Co., KY. Thomas F. Edwardsis listed on the 1821 Sumner Co., Tax lists for the Branch Fork of Drakes Creek. The IGI lists West's birth place as Rutherford Co., TN. This is possible as Thomas is not listed on later Sumner Co., Tax list, although their completeness is questionable and by 1827 Thomas was deceased. Still until I can find some documentation that Thomas lived in Rutherford Co., I am going to list Sumner Co., as the birthplace of his children.

This record qoutes Warren Co., KY Marriage Records as the source, but I have personally been unable to locate the actual Marriage Records.
