3290 When George Monroe Hendricks was born on 5 February 1876, in West Freehold, Freehold Township, Monmouth, New Jersey, his father, James Monroe Hendricks, was 26 and his mother, Ovetta (Etta) Melissa Broach, was 22. When he was 4 years old he was listed with his parents in the 1880 census living at 243 York Street, Jersey City, Hudson, New Jersey. In the 1900 Census, when he was 24, he is listed as living at 66 Division Street, Keyport Town, Raritan Township, Monmouth, New Jersey with his Grandparents, Peter and Melissa Broach along with his parents and three brothers, Albert E, 22; William H, 20; Charles B, 14.

When he was 25 he married Mae Coe Johnson, 24, on 3 July 1901, in Keyport, Monmouth, New Jersey. (See attached clipping from p 1 of The Daily Register.) They were the parents of at least 1 son and 1 daughter.

On January 5, 1910 his father James died and by May 5th, at the time of the census, he lived with his wife, his son Paul M, age 3, and his mother Ovetta, now 58, at 26 Hamilton Ave, Cranford, Union, New Jersey. He was employed as a bank cashier.

On 12 September 1918 he registered for the WWI draft stating he was still living at 26 Hamilton Ave and was a banker with the Cranford Trust Company. He was listed as being of slender build without any physical disabilities, medium height, with brown eyes and grey hair.

In 1920 he continued to reside at 26 Hamilton Ave with his wife Mae, his mother Ovetta, son Paul M, 13, and a daughter Ruth E, 2. He is listed as the Secretary and Treasurer of a Bank.

By 1925 he had apparently moved with his family to Pelham, Westchester, New York, living at 115 Corlies Ave with Mae, Paul and Ruth. A 1927 city directory gives this address and states he is a cashier at the Pelham National Bank.

He died on 11 January 1928, in Pelham, Pelham, Westchester, New York, United States, at the age of 51, and was buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold Borough, Monmouth, New Jersey, United States.

legible and that the grave was marked with a flag. Mary Ann's headstone was
also broken off and the dates buried in soil. All that could be deciphered was
"Mary Ann, wife of William Hendrickson, died ______ (unreadable).
